  • About Me I am the chairman of Bray Choral Society (at least until the end of May 2014); I have been singing with BCS since 2007. I also organise and lead the singing and music for one of the masses at my local parish church.

I love music in general, but am passionate about choral music in most genres from early music to contemporary music. I came to choral singing late in life, in 2007 when I was just turning 50, and have tried to make up for the late start by dedication and hard work.

I love to record our great performances as well as I can, and make CDs from them

In non-musical life I am a Chartered (i.e. registered Professional) Mechanical Engineer; I design industrial energy systems and steam boilers. I hope I don't sound like one of my boilers!

We have taken part in many choral competitions around Ireland with Success in New Ross, Arklow, Navan, Sligo and Cork. In 2013 we joined Wide Open Music in a performance of Beethoven's 9th Symphony, which was received with great enthusiasm. In the same year we also joined Opera Theatre Company for two performances in their tour to promote young Irish soloists. In recognition of the millennium year and augmented by local choirs from around the country, we performed the Verdi Requiem to great acclaim in both Bray and Arklow. This was such a successful event that Bray Choral Society was awarded the 2001 Bray Cha...    less
