In 1560 The School was re-founded by Queen Elizabeth I for boys to be “liberally instructed in good books to The greater honour of The state.” Ever since, The School’s history has been intertwined with The momentous state events and political turmoils of The capital. Old Westminsters dominated Parliament for most of The eighteenth century and The output of leading politicians, statesmen and soldiers has continued to this day. “Marko Marulić” High School Mixed Choir was founded under The guidance of prof. Tomislav Veršić in The School year 1992/93 by merging two School ensembles founded a year earlier: Girls’ Choir, and traditional Dalmatian male vocal group (so-called “klapa”)... more“Marko Marulić” High School Mixed Choir was founded under The guidance of prof. Tomislav Veršić in The School year 1992/93 by merging two School ensembles founded a year earlier: Girls’ Choir, and traditional Dalmatian male vocal group (so-called “klapa”) “Šufit”. At The end of The following School year, The choir participated for The first time at The Croatian Youth Music Festival, choral competition which is traditionally held in Varaždin, Thereby winning The Silver Plaque. In 1996 The performance of The choir at The same event was rewarded with Gold Plaque. After this success, The choir received new, more experienced members, and began to act as The Mixed Choir of Cultural and Artistic Association “Aspalathos”. Although new ensemble soon became well recognized and multiply awarded, it ceased to be a part of The School and thus of this historical review as well.

Specialising in acappella African vocals, our performances are enhanced with dynamic percussion and traditional dance. Our repertoire includes a range of traditional and contemporary African songs in a variety of languages.

As a result of The love They had for choir music, They felt a need for a School choir to ... moreUviwe Senior Secondary School Choir, shortly know as Uviwe SSS Choir was founded in 1997 by a group of students, most of whom used to sing in various church choirs. As a result of The love They had for choir music, They felt a need for a School choir to be established. from The first year of its existence, choir was trained and prepared for The Schools’ eisteddfods by two fellow students. In 1998, They both matriculated.
In The following year These students continued with The choir training and were compensated for Their services by The School Governing Body (SGB). In 2001 They were snatched by nearby Schools that were willing to pay Them better wages and The SGB had to look for oTher people who could assist with choir training from The community. This continued until 2004, when The School employed a teacher who studied music at university.
In 2009 anoTher teacher, who studied music too, came and volunteered his services at The School. In 2010 The teacher was employed on a temporary basis by The Department of... less
