For many years it was led by famous Bulgarian conductor – Petja Pavlovitch. She is known in Bulgaria and abroad for her outstanding talent and professional skills. Mixed choir "Petko Stainov" became one of the leading ensembles not only in Bulgaria. It is prizewinner of many international competitions: Aretzo,Italy - 1980 - 1th Prize; Varna, Bulgaria - 1985 - 3th prize; Ihlava, Czech - 1987 - 3th prize; Preveza, Greece - 2000 - 2nd prize and silver award; Musica Sacra - Praque,Czech - 2001 - The golden award. Each Choir member has a different and wide-ranging background in solo, operatic and competitive performance, which enhances the choir’s ability to undertake some of the more challenging Choral works and contributes to their fresh and unique sound. The Academy Chamber Choir’s repertoire spans from early to contemporary music. Their most recent success was ranking third in “Irelands Choir of the Year” at Cork International Choral Festival 2013. They then went on to win 1st place in the Early Music, 1st place in the Irish Language and 2nd place in the Sacred Music at Navan Choral Festival 2013. They were 2nd place in RTE Lyric FM’s Choirs for Christmas Competition – Irelands largest Choral competition featuring over 400 choirs. The heart of Dozan wa Awtar Music Establishment is singing and community building. Major activities revolve around three groups: Dozan wa Awtar Singers, Dozan and Atfal Dozan. Dozan wa Awtar Singers is an innovative large community choir ranging from 40-60 singers that performs three main concerts a year. Their repertoire includes a wide variety of genres including classical, musical theater, Arabic and world music . We rehearse at the Bernie Grant Arts Centre on Tuesday evenings from 7.30pm to 9.30pm. We aim to unite and represent our community through our joy of singing. The choir has over sixty singers rehearsing each week and the main focus in rehearsals is preparation for performances. These performances can take the form of concerts and appearances in festivals and other events in the local community.
