The song 'Moon River' originally made famous in the film 'Breakfast at Tiffany's with Audrey Hepburn. The soloists in this song are Andrea Hope and Alan Beattie. Inclusive is the word which probably best describes Open Arts Community Choir. It features people with disabilites and those without, from every section of the community in Northern Ireland. The age range is extensive, from seventeen to over seventy but most importantly members are united by their love of singing. It is prizewinner of many international competitions: Aretzo,Italy - 1980 - 1th Prize; Varna, Bulgaria - 1985 - 3th prize; Ihlava, Czech - 1987 - 3th prize; Preveza, Greece - 2000 - 2nd prize and silver award; Musica Sacra - Praque,Czech - 2001 - The golden award. Each Choir member has a different and wide-ranging background in solo, operatic and competitive performance, which enhances the choir’s ability to undertake some of the more challenging Choral works and contributes to their fresh and unique sound. The Academy Chamber Choir’s repertoire spans from early to contemporary music. Their most recent success was ranking third in “Irelands Choir of the Year” at Cork International Choral Festival 2013. They then went on to win 1st place in the Early Music, 1st place in the Irish Language and 2nd place in the Sacred Music at Navan Choral Festival 2013. They were 2nd place in RTE Lyric FM’s Choirs for Christmas Competition – Irelands largest Choral competition featuring over 400 choirs. The heart of Dozan wa Awtar Music Establishment is singing and community building. Major activities revolve around three groups: Dozan wa Awtar Singers, Dozan and Atfal Dozan. Dozan wa Awtar Singers is an innovative large community choir ranging from 40-60 singers that performs three main concerts a year. Their repertoire includes a wide variety of genres including classical, musical theater, Arabic and world music .
