Paralia is a touristic seaside village situated on the west coast of the Thermaic Gulf and in the shadow of Olympus. The Festival has two parts: competitive and non-competitive. All choir ensembles, regardless of the members’ gender and age can apply for participation at the Festival. Over the past 12 years, we have trained five generations of young performers from across the school as part of our extra-curricular music programme. Specialising in acappella African vocals, our performances are enhanced with dynamic percussion and traditional dance. Many arrangements are created by the group's Musical Director, Mr Steve Cook, and by the students themselves. Our repertoire includes a range of traditional and contemporary African songs in a variety of languages. Over the years, this outstanding group has developed a reputation for thrilling, breathtaking and energetic performances at school concerts and further afield. The group has achieved great success at the National Festival of Music for Youth on three occasions, performed at the Royal Albert Hall at the School's Proms and also performed for HRH Queen Elizabeth II in Liverpool. in 2012, these talented students entertained thousands of specta...    less
