Entry by audition. Rehearsals are fortnightly on Sunday evenings. Currently performing 4 concerts per year, all proceeds from Quire Voices concerts go to a different selected charity for each event. Charities for 2011 are: The Royal British Legion, Tommy's Charity.

Spera means hope in Latin, and it is a members’ shared vision on Music. All members studied a sacred choral Music under Koji Oguchi, Choir director, when they were high school students. They were deeply touched by Oguchi’s Music and established the Ensemble Choir SPERA. Making its debut in concert in March 2014 at Tokyo Opera City Recital Hall, SPERA’s Music was highly prized and well-reviewed in newspapers. It serves in Masses and services and performs in concerts as an ecumenical Choir, composed of students from Kitasato University, International Christian University, Hitotsubashi University and Rikkyo University. The vocal section of the Goldberg Ensemble, consisting of about 22 singers coming from various established Choirs in Malta, brings together choral enthusiasts to perform primarily baroque choral Music in a more exhaustive manner. The Musicians too are distinguished performers in their own right who tour Europe extensively, and who are versatile on both modern and baroque instruments. The ensemble's director, Michael Laus, is the inspiration and motivator of the Goldberg Ensemble, whose harpsichord playing and conducting have been highly acclaimed by the international press.  less

Our society is a real opportunity for people to get the most from singing. We have a great Musical director, immensely skilled and fun to sing for. Every rehearsal gives us something to discover about the Music of all kinds of different styles, how to sin...  moreOur society is a real opportunity for people to get the most from singing. We have a great Musical director, immensely skilled and fun to sing for. Every rehearsal gives us something to discover about the Music of all kinds of different styles, how to sing, communication with the audience , keeping time, tuning, rhythm etc. The Choir works with Musically trained people and singers entirely new to singing; some read Music and some not. We give great concerts, sometimes of classics such as Elijah (Nov 2012), madrigals, anthems, and lighter Music such as the delightful Noah and his Floating Zoo. Like all Choirs however we need more singers to keep the Choir progressing. We are therefore expanding the ways we reach out to people who might like to give singing a try, or who would like to return to singing after a break, perhaps to have a family or because of a house move.
