This is thanks to the work of Knut Nystedt (b. 1915), organist, composer and conductor, who returned to Norway in 1964 after studying in the USA and started a Choir at the Music department of the University of Oslo. the Choir continues to recruit members from the department of Music, as well as from the Norwegian Academy of Music in more recent years. the American choral tradition in which Nystedt was trained emphasises the importance of new Music – a practice Nystedt brought back with him to Oslo. Knut Nystedt’s Music became a vital element of Schola Cantorum’s repertoire. Edwards, Esq. the Choir today continues to sing at many major events in and out of College, the most significant out of which being the Annual Carol Service. Kokopelli has been a featured ensemble at many events, provincially, nationally, and internationally. these include the Rocky Mountain National Music Festival, Podium (the biannual conference of the Association of Canadian Choral Communities), the regional conference of the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA), the International Society of Music Educators conference, and others. In addition to many North American cities, the Choir has toured to Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Germany, Malaysia, Namibia, South Africa, Botswana, Swaziland and Zambia.
