Led by innovative and experienced Choral conductors, this exciting new choir will rehearse weekly in the heart of Blackheath, and will perform locally and further afield, at a wide range of events and Concerts. Are you interested in being part of an exhilarating new group, performing everything from Tina Turner to Thomas Tallis? Let us answer some questions for you… I’m new to singing in choirs. Does that matter? Absolutely not! VOCALIZE: Blackheath welcomes singers of all abilities and experiences, and the songs will be taught in a variety of ways to suit each singer. Is it OK if I can’t read music? It’s not a problem at all. We anticipate that some people will read music fluently, and some won’t know their a cappella from their ensemble. It’s been at least 15-20 years now that we have participated in numerous festivals and Concerts all over Greece but also all over Europe. In 2005, as adults, we decided to establish this particular group with the assistance of the Children’s Choir. We have given Concerts in Hungary, in several cities in Greece and especially in Chalkidiki. In 2011 new members have been included in the group and we have changed our name into “THAMYRIADES”. Our repertory extends from classical to rock, pop and musical. You will have the opportunity to listen to us in selected halls. In Greek mythology, Thamyris (Greek: Θάμυρις), son of Philammon and the nymph Argiope, was a Thracian singer who was so proud of his skill that he boasted he could outsing the Muses. Since our first practice on 14 February 2013 the choir has grown to over 80 members with around 60 attending each Thursday.

BCS is a friendly local Choral society that has come to be know as the 'town's own choir'. It performs sacred and secular music in various venues including Brentwood Cathedral.
