By engaging in an intense study, could soon join the most important events of prestigious choralcompetitions earning statements in Arezzo and Ravenna in 1978 and 1979 and Gorizia in 1982. The polyphonic sacred and secular Music certainly represents the most relevant part of the repertoire that the Polyphonic Group “Claudio Monteverdi” successfully brings to churches and theaters both in Italy and abroad. Among the repertoire, we can find 1500’s and Baroque Musical compositions by Palestrina, Da Victoria, Gallus, Viadana, Hassler, Monteverdi. Among the Romantic authors, on the other hand, we can find Schubert, Schumann, Sibelius, and Rossini. Concerning modern Polyphonic Music: Poulenc, Kodaly, Bardos, Pizzetti, and Orff. The KCKCC Vocal Jazz Program takes pride in performing professional-level Vocal jazz ensemble literature. Our program has grown to 3 Vocal jazz ensembles. The Music we perform represents a crossover of the jazz and popular Music idioms. The students in the KCKCC VJ program learn Jazz Education through a variety of methods. First of all, each of these students take private Vocal jazz coachings weekly. They also perform Music by professional Vocal ensembles, arrangements by well-known Vocal jazz educators, and learn jazz and popular Music standards (both through the ensemble and in private coachings).

Two years after its founding, it was awarded 1st Prize at the 29th National Music Competition for Young Artists (NAMCYA... moreThe Samiweng Singers, the official SSAA Choir of the Ilocos Norte National High School was officially founded in 2001 by Robert Caluya. Two years after its founding, it was awarded 1st Prize at the 29th National Music Competition for Young Artists (NAMCYA) held at the Cultural Center of the Philippines. The group performed in various events such as Miss Earth Pageant in 2003 and 2004. The group was also one of the featured artists in the Samu’t-Saring Tinig V at the Cultural Center of the Philippines; in a concert at the Clamshell in Intramuros in February 2003; and in the International Youth Music Festival sponsored by NAMCYA held at the CCP in December 2003. In 2004, the Choir released its debut CD featuring Ilocano favourites and winning competition pieces. In 2005, the Choir was handed over to its new conductor, Sherberk Cabrales. In its 32 years of existence, UPSA has consistently brought Honor and prestige to the country, winning various prizes and awards in competitions in ITALY, SPAIN, FRANCE, NETHERLANDS, CZECH REPUBLIC, BULGARIA, SLOVAKIA, BELGIUM, GERMANY, POLAND, WALES, HUNGARY and SWITZERLAND. It is one of the only four Filipino Choirs to have qualified to join the 14th European Grand Prix for Choral Singing ‑ the world'S most coveted choral prize. UPSA was also the official entry of the Philippines to the UNESCO International Music Prize in 2005.
In the Philippines, it was named the Best University Choir in 2012 and 2004 at the “Who’s Who in the Philippines” 19th and 27th Consumers’ Choice Awards, respectively.
