Mariane Patenaude, piano Les Chantres Musiciens is a MALE voice CHOIR formed of young men between 17 and 29, all steaming from the famous Les Petits Chanteurs du Mont-Royal. It was founded in 1992 by Gilbert Patenaude.

Les Chantres Musiciens’ repertoire is both varied and compl...  moreFounded in 1992 by their current Artistic Director Gilbert Patenaude, Les Chantres Musiciens is a CHOIR of young men aged 17 to 29 who hail from the celebrated Les Petits Chanteurs du Mont-Royal. Les Chantres Musiciens’ repertoire is both varied and complex, comprising a range of works from the Romantic period (including Mendelssohn, Schubert, Schumann, and Brahms) to Post-Romantic and modern compositions (including, for example, Schafer, Reger, Schönberg, and Langlais). The ensemble has earned a reputation for excellence, confirmed by prizes at national and international competitions, tours, and several distinguished recordings. Their first tour brought them through Germany and France, garnering critical and public acclaim, particularly at the Festival de Musique de Moselle. In 2007, the CHOIR participated in the International Men’s Voice Festival in Pleyben. World Champions (Scenic Folklore - WCG2012). The premier performance ensemble of Kearsney College, a leading independent high school for boys in South Africa. Winners of 10 Gold Medals (incl 3 World Champion Titles) at the World CHOIR Games 2000-2012. Boys join the CHOIR as an extra-curricular activity, amid academic, sporting and other cultural activities. Approx. 40 performances per year, including national/international tours.  less

Using the simple view that a good song is a good song, has meant that they bring together a collection of pieces that appeal to a wide audience. The CHOIR delights in introducing new songs that are connected by their unique choral sound, rather than from a particular genre and it is this wide appeal and their sense of fun that has meant the group is in constant demand and continually attracts new members. Even in its early days the CHOIR never quite conformed to the accepted norms of what should be included in their repertoire.
