The Choir was found in April 1994 and called after the central street of Kiev. The Choir acquired the status of ‘municipal’ in 1999, and has been financed by the Kievan Mayor’s office since then. In December 2009, the ensemble became ‘academic’. From February 2011 the official name “Khreschatyk” Academic Chamber Choir. Honoured Art Worker of Ukraine Larisa Bukhonskaya was the Choir founder and its Artistic Director until 2007. Since August 2007, after winning a representative contest, Pavel Struts, previously a long-standing Coryphaeus, became the Choir’s Artistic Director. The honorary title of Distinguished Artist of Ukraine was awarded to Pavel Struts in December 2009.  less

In 1968, the Choir was awarded the status of a National Choir. Over the years, the Choir has been led by many talented conductors, e.g. Centis Kriķis, Kārlis Beinerts, Edvīns and Inga Dziļums, Ints Teterovskis, etc. Today the conductors of the Choir are Evita Taranda and Zane Zilberte; Choir master is Roberts Hansons. The repertoire of the Choir varies, as performances include all sorts of Music from the time of renaissance to modern Music or Music written by contemporary artists, e.g. Paul McCartney's oratorio "Ecce Cor Meum" or Czech composer Petr Eben's Music "De Circuito Aeterno". The Choir has performed in many countries and it has received many awards and international recognition in international competitions. Musica is an un-auditioned, community Choir. We sing everything from Schubert to Gospel. We love to challenge ourselves and try new things. We come together every week because we LOVE to make Music together and we love the way singing makes us feel :)

EOJAS has performed extensively in locations such as Pennsylvania, Alabama, Maryland, Virginia, Florida, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Washington D.C., Belgium, Luxembourg, and France. EOJAS is an official Alumni Interest Group (AIG) of the Penn State Alumni Association. EOJAS' mission is to learn, present, and promote African and African-American sacred and secular Music in an effort to entertain, inspire, affirm and unify the worldwide community. They specialise in modern Musical theatre and performance but also sing other genres including pop and gospel. The Choir's Music is arranged by Choir leader Nicole Dawson who is a trained composer and arranger. Rehearsals are every Wednesday at 7.30pm at Priory Hall, Christchurch and the Choir perform regularly all over the South Coast. New members are currently being accepted for the summer term 2016, entry is by informal, private audition. Come and join the fun!  less

It has since grown from a small choral group to a self-run community Choir with a wide ranging repertoire, performing Music that bridges cultures and unites faith traditions. The project won an ABC award in December 2009 at the Royal Society for the Arts and was cited by the judging panel as ”an excellent, innovative way of bringing people together through a shared passion for Music”. Koruso! host performances at least twice a year and to date has performed at a variety of venues across its home borough and beyond. Members come from all walks of life and all across Southwark. We enjoy singing together every Thursday from 6:30pm at Oliver Goldsmiths Primary School, Peckham Road. New members are always welcome - particularly tenors and basses.  less
