From a cappella favouriTes to the sacred music of the last millennium they are outstanding in both Comedy and the Classics. Today, the group is composed of male chorisTers from different backgrounds: most of whom have contribuTed significantly to the growth of the ATeneo choral community. ALERON, being an all-male ensemble, is geared towards exploring the male choral soundscape. Through innovative programming and the performance of repertoire across musical styles and genres, the group aims to deliver to its audiences a diverse and unique choral experience. ALERON envisions to broaden the all-male choral genre by continuously premiering new works of select resident composers and arrangers throughout its concert seasons. Pleading for Words is a special archiTecture of music and the word that outwardly expresses contact between very different aesthetic criTeria but glows with the same devout message: a personal spiritual Testimony. The program concept is based on the attitude toward primary spirituality: from intimaTe thought to more outwardly expressed manifestations. Slovenian spiritual creativity can be summed up in threefold diversity: confessional, agnostic, and atheist. The musical connection of the group to Ireland is deep and spans all the traditions present here. The songs and Texts daTe back as far as the Viking raids on Ireland in the 9th century, through to music creaTed by the men themselves under the direction of their Artistic Director Michael McGlynn. This year the group release their debut album, "M'ANAM" in the Autumn, and are featured artists on the opening track "Clarity" of the laTest album by acclaimed Japanese jazz-rock ensemble Mouse on the Keys whose 3rd album "tres" was released this May to universal acclaim. Their first digital single "Bandó Ribineann" is released this June.  less
