The Choir represents a Community of exceptional talent and passion for Music. The East Rand Youth Choir hosts prestigious Choir festivals annually for both high school and primary school Choirs. The aim of these festivals are to motivate and inspire these Choirs in order to achieve true development and innovation for our youth. Some of our members have had a lifetime of Music and choral experience; others are only just beginning to discover the joy of singing. Whichever stage our members are experiencing in their personal Musical journeys, the IFC is filled with enriching opportunities to learn and grow both as Musicians and as individuals. It is a Choir ensemble of about 25 people, mainly amateurs. They share an incredible passion for Music and are keen on spreading their positive singing energy. The Choir is known for its modern choral Music repertoire, consisting of songs from all over the world as well as pop Music masterpieces. The group was awarded a silver medal in pop Music category during 5th 'Music Everywhere Festival' in Gdansk in 2019. So far, the Choir has performed in several places in Poland, often the non-obvious ones, trying to make choral Music available to everyone. The Choir’s conductor, Zuzanna Popiołkiewicz, graduated from Conducting faculty at the Academy of Music in Gdansk. In 2012, as a representative of Poland, she led Music workshops for the American organization 'Singers of United Lands' in 23 US states, Canada, Kenya, Zimbabwe and Zambia. Many members of the Choir are choral scholars, some are at Music college, and most hope to make a career in Music. Since its foundation by Ralph Allwood in 1984, the Choir have toured extensively in Europe, and have also appeared throughout the United Kingdom at venues great and small, including St John's, Smith Square and some of the country's most glorious cathedrals.  less
