All members are professional singers and Musicians, all of them graduated the Higher Musical Academy in Lviv and their diverse Musical backgrounds contribute to the Musical expression of the ensemble.The group is flexible in number to expend into different styles of singing. All Music are performed a cappella. The main areas of speciality are Orthodox church Music (liturgical), folk and popular Ukrainian songs and some examples of original Ukrainian, world Music as well as well-known a cappella classics. We are a group of friends who got to know each other while singing in the same academic or chamber Choirs. Eventually, our passion for the classical Music led us to create our own vocal ensemble. In our repertoire there are also some pop Music arrangements.

Our new Musical Director, Julian Collings joined the Choir beginning of 2019. Over the last few years the Choir has enjoyed a growing reputation for its repertoire of outstanding contemporary Music alongside the established classics. TCS latest performances included The Creation of Haydn, Mendelssohn's Elijah, Mass in Blue of Todd, Rossini's Petite Messe solennelle. The Choir also perform a Christmas Concert every year. Overall we perform three main concerts a year. During its performances TCS enjoys the participation of professional soloists and orchestras and ensembles. Phil Culling is our accompanist. With past successes and imaginative programming, TCS is thriving. We are always glad to welcome new singers, regardless of age; especiallly those who enjoy their Music making. We like to rehearse and perform with our sense of humour switched on.  less

The Choir sings evensong every Sunday during term and performs in concerts organised by Somerville Music Society. Somerville Choir is currently being conducted by David Crown. He is assisted by the two organ scholars, Douglas Knight and Robert Pecksmith (ofollow">http://www.robert-smith.org.uk ), and Choir manager Stefan Schwarz. Since David Crown took over as Director of Chapel Music in 2007, the Choir has been involved in two opera productions (Purcell's 'Dido and Aeneas ' and Gluck's 'Orfeo ed Euridice') as well as concerts in Oxford, Brighton, Wells, Swindon, Upton upon Severn and Steeple Aston. In recent years the Choir has also sung evensong at Southwark, Worcester, Winchester, Wells and Berlin Cathedrals. Also winning ...  moreIn the World Choir Championships which was held in Graz, Austria between 10th-17th July 2011, Boğaziçi Jazz Choir became the 'WORLD CHAMPION' in Contemporary Music and Folklore categories, and got the 'second prize' in Mixed Choirs category. Also winning 2 more gold medals in 'Grand Prix of Choral Music' the champions competed in, the Choir has come back to Turkey with a total of 5 gold medals.
