Being part of the choir requires two very important elements - dedication and commitment - and it is evident that, over the years, these have remained at the Core of the choir, demonstrating the loyalty of the choir members not only to each other but to keeping the talent of choral singing alive and well! Excellent performances just don't happen and a lot of hard work and effort is put in at every rehearsal, however, the camaraderie, enjoyed by everyone, is also a very special part of being a Choir Member. In 2005 the local Council of the borough of North Down conferred the status of Borough Ambassador on Bangor Ladies Choir. This is the first conferment ever to an external Organisation outside of the Council Membership and the Choir were privileged and proud to accept this unique position. With approximately 100-115 auditioned members and a professional Core of 12 voices,the choir's repertoire spans 6+ centuries . In addition to our annual subscription series, we sing with both the National Arts Centre Orchestra and the Ottawa Symphony Orchestra . The choir has made five international tours to Italy, Spain, Germany and the Czech Republic and the United Kingdom and Ireland . Following an extensive search which attracted a roster of highly- accomplished choral directors, the impressive and charismatic young conductor and keyboard artist, Jordan de Souza, was appointed Artistic Director and Principal Conductor in July, 2013. The band sings mainly sacral, including orthodox music, but also contemporary and folk. The choir has rich concert activity in the country and abroad and with great success has participated in many choral contests and festivals. The ensemble performed hundreds of concerts and presented its skills at competitions and festivals in Germany, Spain, Latvia, Lithuania, Italy, Switzerland, Hungary and many others. The choir has recorded a few CDs: "Bogoroditse Devo, Raduisya" from 2008, "Musica Sacra" from 2013, "Canticum Canticorum" from 2017.
