We are made up of 3 different choirs - Mixed Chorus, Treble Choir, and Concert Choir. All of our members are students at Port Huron Northern High School and range from 13-18 Years of age. We all share a love of music and create joy through singing together.

During the forty plus Years of its lifetime it has benefited from the leadership of four further conductors, David Griffiths, Margaret Maddock, Len Williams, and our present Director of Music, Carol Davies. The choir has travelled widely over the Years with tours in Europe, United States and Canada besides engagements throughout Wales and England. Our concert venues have varied from village halls to national auditoria and great cathedrals. In the Eisteddfod field we have won two National first prizes plus several seconds and others. In 2002 we celebrated our 40th anniversary with a sell-out concert in the 1000 seat Great Hall in Aberystwyth. One of the Choirs highlights was performing with the Central Band of the RAF at the Mayflower theatre Southampton and before Princess Beatrice of the Netherlands as part of a joint concert of a 1000 Welsh and Dutch voices. The group works mostly acapella but has also performed in other styles, such as big band. The group's repertoire ranges from Israeli folk to American jazz and British pop. The emphasis always being on tight harmony, even balance and a clear unit sound. The Yakinton Octet is truly a singer's group, consisting of eight friends who work as a democratic group with no professional conductor.

The composition of members is unique in the international classical music world: all members are from one large family: six siblings between 8 and 21 Years of ageand the two parents. Artistic leader: the parents, Zita and Vilmos Tóth, but the children also participate in creating musical conceptions and decisions. The parents have been singing in choirs since they were children and have participated in numerous competitions, festivals and courses. The children have also sung in choirs from an early age, usually singing solos. They study singing, musical theory and instrumental music. Our purpose is to promote the miracle of singing and music - that we owe so much - to people. With each passing year we strive to sing more and more beautiful compositions with a higher quality of performance. The cornerstone of the Chorus is traditional boychoir music including sacred and secular pieces spanning the Middle Ages to the present. The Chorus incorporates songs and ballads of the American Southwest and other repertoire into its program in a unique way. Costumed as cowboys the boys sing the songs of the saddle and showcase their trick rodeo roping. The Chorus also performs contemporary music including Broadway show tunes, international songs, holiday music and modern favorites. We are a truly trans-generational choir consisting of staff, parents, colleagues, friends and family from across the Formby High School community. At full strength, we have over 80 talented members and we have recently launched a smaller ‘function’ group – the ‘G:Force Executive’ for weddings and private functions. We support the national Sing Up campaign and perform regularly across the local community. This exciting and innovative choir rehearses every Tuesday evening during term time, from 6.30pm til 8.00pm. Boosting about 190 choristers ages 5 to 18, the HCC offers youth vocal training and music instruction to foster creative expression and appreciation of music. Its latest choir program, Lads & Gents, is a boys choir program that provides young male singers (ages 8 to 28) with an opportunity to explore their choral instrument within a safe, supportive environment, surrounded by other boys and young men. We are a mixed choir, putting on 3 concerts per year; a Spring concert with a wide and varied mixture of music, an orchestral concert in the Autumn, and a charity Christmas concert. We can also be seen throughout the year taking part in various community events; singing at the local Christmas grotto, taking part in flash mobs and singing at weddings and funerals.  less
