This is the Choir’s 99th album to be released. Founded in the 1670s, the Choir is known for its distinctive rich, warm sound, its expressive interpretations and its breadth of repertoire. Alongside these musical characteristics, the Choir is particularly proud of its happy, relaxed and mutually supportive atmosphere. The Choir is directed by Andrew Nethsingha following a long line of eminent Directors of Music, recently Dr George Guest, Dr Christopher Robinson and Dr David Hill. The Choir is made up of around 20 Choristers and Probationers from St John’s College School and 15 Choral Scholars who are members of St John’s College, its primary purpose being to enhance the liturgy and worship at daily services in the College Chapel. In their first four years, this volunteer group has grown from four to 15 Singers, learned 42 songs, released their first CD, racked up 51 performances for 32 organizations in seven counties across Tennessee, and produced a successful Concert series which has attracted a combined 1000+ attendees from 38 cities in eight states across the USA. Their Concert audiences have ranged in size from a few hundred to 4000 people. The U Chamber Choir performs numerous works by conductor Barlow Bradford, an active composer and arranger, as well as private commissions by other renowned composers. The Chamber Choir often collaborates with other ensembles, both from the School of Music and off campus, including Dr. Bradford’s professional choir, the Utah Chamber Artists. Students in the U Chamber Choir participate in the Highest quality Choral experience, advancing their vocal technique, knowledge of Choral repertoire and musicianship.
