Written for the 2011 combined Choir of Festival 500 in Newfoundland, Canada. Recorded live on May 3, 2015, at All Saints Episcopal Church in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Performed by the Concert Choir and Men's Auxiliary Ensembles of the Girl Choir of South Florida. Artistic Director: Wallis Peterson, Accompanist: Gayle Giese. Stars that spill on a melting stem of brilliance down to earth, make landfall here like swans who are burnt by flight. We find an orphan of ashes, a child of chilled obsidian: in the middle of winter we nurture the seeds of stars. On days of silver light at the end of summer, they’ll lift away to resume their long migration. You who’ve been told There’s nothing, nothing to be done, you who have come to a place of broken stones, remember us who have sparked a star from dust, and seen its wings ignite the darkling sky.  less

Marie-Clotilde MOES --- Qui me consolera dans la nuit noire, la nuit plus noire que les hommes Non pas celle où l’on entre pour mieux sentir le monde, non pas celle qui contraint à l’infini par sa clarté soudaine Non pas encore la nuit de nos murmures roses, et que j’entends ton regard qui m’excède et la respiration de l’enfant (car il revient, analogie des anges) Qui me consolera sans toi, sans lui qui nous aime --- Who will console me in the dark night, the night darker than men Not the one where we enter to feel better the world, not the one that constrains to infinity by its sudden clarity Not yet night of our pink whispers, and that I hear your look that exceeds me and the breath of the child (for he returns, analogy of angels) Who will console me without you, without him who loves us --- Fluidité des lignes ou densité sonore, ombre et lumière, crainte ou sérénité, calme o...    less

These singers have already demonstrated their enthusiasm for exploring various genres and styles, and their performances are infused with infectious joy and youthful enthusiasm. They act as ambassadors for the Community School of Music and Arts to reach the broader community through performance and share their love of music.

This has been a long time coming. For the past several years I’ve mused about forming an interfaith Vocal Ensemble, but it never seemed to be the right time.   Now it is.   Feel free to join me. We already have rehearsal spac...

Goal of the Choir is equally the choral and music development of its members and the contribution to the cultural development of Alexandria and the surrounding area. Although it started as a small Ensemble singing monophonic or at best diphone melodies without instrumental accompaniment, today has more than 80 choristers, mostly girls, 10-25 years old, and interprets as a triphonic Choir almost all kinds of music, with an emphasis on the music of the nations and Greek composers. With an emphasis on play and discovery, this group explores singing and music in a secure but exciting environment. Tamariki offers a focus on thorough and excellent music education, with singers learning about healthy Vocal production, the body-voice connection, and vibrant performance presence as well as a strong emphasis on musical literacy, music theory, and sightsinging skills. As with all our Ensembles, Tamariki provides a secure and accepting social environment where all singers feel their importance as members of the group. Most importantly, Tamariki has fun and creates exciting music! To better address the different needs and abilities of this diverse age range, the Choir is now split into two streams: Tamariki 1 is for singers in Kindergarten and Grade 1. (Singers must be 5 years old by March 1, 2014 in order to register.) Tamariki 2 is for singers in Grades 2 and 3. The different streams and rehearsal days will combine t...    less
