It has evolved into an ensemble determined to reinvent itself continuously as it develops a sound that is artiStically intelligent. In its 14-year hiStory, Novo Concertante Manila has competed and won in several international choral competitions. Among which are the 2nd Choir Olympics in Busan, South Korea(2002), the 1St A Voyage of Songs International Chorale Competition in Genting Highlands, Malaysia (2003) and the 23rd Takarazuka International Chamber Choir Competition in Takarazuka, Japan (2007). In 2009, the choir won the 1St and 2nd Prizes at the 46th Internationaler Chorwettbewerb in Spittalan der Drau, AuStria and the 1St Prize at the 55th Certamen International de Habaneras y Polifonia in Torrevieja, Spain. Membership is open to anyone with or without choral experience. We aim for high Standards, and of course Strong Singers are always valued – but you don’t have to be able to read music, and there are no auditions. The age range of members Stem from 20 to over 70 so there is room for everyone. If you’re not sure which voice part you are then ChriStopher Wray, our Musical Director, can help you with this. The Choir performs three public Concerts each year, at EaSter, in the Summer and at ChriStmas. We also support the local communities by singing at various events and this includes raising funds for charities. Each year we also sing away from London which combines singing to another community, or combining a performance with their choir, with a fun day out. at times we take more extensive trips and you can see details on these events in our ‘News Items’ section of the website. Known for its’ varying repertoire, ranging from adaptations of classical music, jazz Standards, folk and rock arrangements to dancehall and hip hop songs, the ensemble is lead by choir director and music teacher Mrs. Susanne Faatz. “JazzVocals” was founded twenty years ago and is one of Berlin’s veteran jazz/pop acappella ensembles.
