Alone in the night on a dark hill
with pines around me, spicy and still
And heaven, a heaven full of stars over my head
white and topaz and misty red
myriads with beating hearts of fire
the aeons cannot vex or tire...
Ah, the dome of heaven like a great hill
and myriads with beating hearts of fire
Heaven full of stars...
I know I am honored to be witness of so much majesty...

Lo, how a rose e'er blooming from tender stem hath sprung
Of Jesse's lineage coming, as those of old have sung
It came, a floweret bright, amid the cold of winter
When half spent was the night
Isaiah twas foretold it, the rose I have in mind;
With Mary we behold it, the virgin mother kind.
To show God's love aright, she bore to us a savior
When half spent was the night.
This flower, whose fragrance tender with sweetness fills the air,
Dispels with glorious splendor, the darkness everywhere;
True man, yet very God, from sin and death he saves us,
And lightens every load.

During this time the choir has achieved success on many levels: Locally they have received 10 golden diplomas on provincial level for the “ATKV Applous” competition in the category for advanced, mixed High School choirs; and 7 golden diplomas on national level for the same competition. They were the only choir in the history of the Director’s trophy who won the award 8 times and they were also the first to do so in all three categories: mixed- (5 times), boys’- (twice) and girls’ choir (once). They have also received double gold at the Gauteng Eisteddfod, A and A+ awards at the Pretoria Beeld Eisteddfod and first place in their category in more than one local competition. They have annual workshops and master classes with well-known and respected conductors (both locally and internationally) and have hosted many international choirs and groups. They regularly tour different parts of South Afric... less

Since then, the ACS has established itself as a formidable presence in the Philippine musical landscape. Their unique specialization in sacred choral music has opened a richly eclectic mix of European, American and Asian choral literature that spans medieval to postmodern periods, traditional to contemporary styles, complex art music to Highly-textured indigenous music, and moving sprituals to psalmody hewn out of traditional Asian musics.
In 2006, the ACS made their mark abroad with Awit: The First ACS European Tour, representing the Philippines in two important choral events: the Polyfollia in France, a biennial international choral festival at Saint-Lo in La Manche, and the 38th Tolosa Choral Contest in Spain where they emerged as first prize winners in the polyphon... less
