The world premiere of this piece was at our Lift Every Voice: At The Table virtual concert on Sunday, May 30, 2021. About Opus Nuovo: This season, we launched an ongoing commissioning project as a commitment to a diverse and inclusive approach to choral programming. Through this innovation, we are seeking to broaden the landscape of the choral repertoire for both student and professional choirs. The "family" also includes older levels, a treble chamber choir, a mixed young adult Chorus...  moreThe Surrey Children's Choir family represents 3 choirs, a Junior Training Choir, an Intermediate Training Choir, and the Senior Surrey Children's Choir. The "family" also includes older levels, a treble chamber choir, a mixed young adult Chorus, and a community adult Chorus. The Junior and Intermediate Training Choirs (JTC and ITC) provide a program of sequentially developed skills which prepare choristers for admission into the Surrey Children's Choir. The training choirs perform annually at the Family Christmas Concert and Year End concert (held in May of each year). They also often compete at the Fraser Valley Kiwanis Music Festival, always with great results. The training choirs may also perform at various events in the community. The SCC, a treble-voice choir of boys and girls aged 12-18 is a consistent gold medal winner at local festivals, hailed by Gerald Van Wyck, Vancouver Community College professor as "one of the best Children's choirs in Canada".
