The choir’s work was interrupted for several years during its members’ academic education, as well as during their partic...  moreThe Ainur Chamber Choir was originally founded in 1991, at a time when a main choral movement was taking place in the Canary Islands. The choir’s work was interrupted for several years during its members’ academic education, as well as during their participation in different musical projects. The present line-up has been steady since 2006. Their repertoire offers a variety of styles of great difficulty and chromatic richness, and tries to take advantage of the cultural and geographic circumstances which make of the Canary Islands a multicultural place. A remarkable feature of the group is their willingness to innovate within the choral music. Their versatility and the variety of repertoire they face can be seen in the different projects they have taken part in: short operas, official or private events, festivals, and monographic concerts on different subjects. They soon found a community of Singers who are equally passionate about the energy and intimacy of Chamber choral music performed at a high caliber. Although we perform throughout Rhode Island and beyond, we are delighted to be ensemble-in-residence at Grace Church Providence, which generously provides rehearsal and performance space, and serves as our fiscal sponsor.  less

Six Degree Singers has featured in events all around the D.C.-metro area, including the Silver Spring Loy Krathong Thai Festival and the Chesapeake-Potomac Invitational Bonspiel, an annual curling event, and was recently selected to perform in the closing concert of the Kennedy Center's National Choral Festival in 2014. As a registered non-profit organization, Six Degree Singers also participates in outreach activities at various charity events and retirement communities.  less

http://www.leaSingers.co.uk The Lea Singers' latest CD -- 'Jubilea' -- features almost exclusively English music (with the exception of the final item -- the 'Ave maris stella' from the Monteverdi Vespers); and the English music represented ranges from...  morehttp://www.leaSingers.co.uk The Lea Singers' latest CD -- 'Jubilea' -- features almost exclusively English music (with the exception of the final item -- the 'Ave maris stella' from the Monteverdi Vespers); and the English music represented ranges from SACred and secular favourites -- Howells' 'Like as the hart' and Sullivan's 'The long day closes' -- to works commissioned from contemporary composers (Judith Bingham's 1997 work 'Gleams of a remoter world' and a setting of the Nunc Dimittis, written in 2010 by one of the choir's own basses, John Pickard). The CD is expertly conducted by the choir's musical director, James Sherlock and guest instrumentalists are 17-year old Edward Picton-Turbevill on the organ and award-winning young cellist James Barralet playing the solo part in Sir John Tavener's 'Svyati' for cello and choir.
