It started life as the James Ashworth Singers giving its first concert in Thornton Parish Church in April 1976. After some years the base moved to the Unitarian Church near St Luke’s Hospital to be more central for members coming from all parts of Bradford and the surrounding area. In 1979 James Ashworth moved on to projects new and was succeeded by Douglas Robinson who had recently retired as Chorus Master at Covent Garden and who held the post until ill health forced his retirement. During this period the name was changed first to the Ashworth Singers and later to the Bradford Chorale. John Coates took over as Musical Director in 1984 and was followed by Tricia Platts in 1991. Since Tricia’s departure the Chorale has been led by several Musical Directors including Carleton Etherington, Andrew Dibb, Elizabeth Altman, John Griffiths and Christopher Rathbone. In May, 2013, composer Ola Gjeilo spent 3 days on...  more"Ubi Caritas II: Through Infinite Ages" (Ola Gjeilo) is sung by the Central Washington University Chamber Choir (Gary Weidenaar, director), with an improvised piano accompaniment played by the composer. In May, 2013, composer Ola Gjeilo spent 3 days on the Central Washington University Campus to join the choir in recording 4 of his pieces. the other three were "Sanctus", "Luminous Night of the Soul", and "Vast Eternal Skies" This performance of Gjeilo's "Ubi Caritas II" is from that session, which included a rendition of the piece sung in in its published (unaccompanied) version as well. We preform Choral music, ethnic music and modern songs emphasis on Slovenian authors. We preform a lot across Slovenia on solo tours or we prefrom on different cultural events. For four years in a row, we organize Festival oktetov Kranj (Festival of small vocal groups). We also preformed successfully abroad in Perast, Montenegro and Praga.
