The consort specialises in bringing vibrancy to early music, as well as breathing life into newly commissioned pieces. Originating at the University of Cambridge, the consort attracted Singers from the renowned Choirs of St John's, Jesus, Trinity and King's Colleges. Now a professional vocal ensemble, Platinum Consort boasts some of the best young Singers in London. They have an affinity with the music of composer Richard Bates and recently premiered his Tenebrae Responsories. These, along with other music inspired by the Tenebrae tradition appear on Platinum's debut album, In The Dark which is released on Resonus Classics. Platinum also runs a Boys' Choir, which aims to be one of the best of its kind in the UK. As these things do however, the ...  moreThe New 4tet is a group of four friends, Gemma, Emma, Gary and Noel, who as very experienced choral Singers decided to meet once in a while to drink wine, chat, socialise, and do a bit of singing together, just for fun. As these things do however, the project has started to grow arms and legs, and we became available for the occasional bit of singing in public when we feel like it. Since then our performances have included singing in Glasgow Art Club, and in Edinburgh for the Royal College of Physicians. Based in the west of Scotland, we have all sung together in a prominent Glasgow Choir, but the New 4tet gives us a chance to enjoy the much more intimate sensations of singing one to a part. All four of us have been involved in the music industry to a greater or lesser degree, and we all sing to a very high standard and love performing. The Vocal Art Ensemble of Davis, California, in a joint concert with the Garda Male Voice Choir and the Carrigaline Singers of Ireland, a performance of Eric Whitacre's "Sleep." This was the fifth concert on VAE's performance tour of Ireland, September 2-11, 2010.

With a membership of 65-70 musicians from throughout the campus, this ensemble is quickly becoming recognized for its musical excellence. Recent concerts have included Johann Sebastian Bach’s Lobet den Herrn, alle Heiden, Samuel Barber’s Reincarnations and Benjamin Britten’s Rejoice in the Lamb. Strong sight-reading skills and musicianship are important to membership. This ensemble is directed by Dr. Jonathan Babcock, associate director of choral activities.
