Over the past 12 years, we have trained five generations of young performers from across the school as part of our extra-curricular music programme. Specialising in acappella African vocals, our performances are enhanced with dynamic percussion and traditional dance. Many arrangements are created by the group's Musical Director, Mr Steve Cook, and by the students themselves. Our repertoire includes a range of traditional and contemporary African Songs in a variety of languages. It specializes in choral and early music—notably Renaissance, Baroque, and rarely heard repertoire—and is dedicated to delivering emotionally resonant, historically informed performances. Winner of the Chorus America/ASCAP Alice Parker Award, Crescendo invites choral singers to audition for its 22nd season.This season, our repertoire spans 16th-century motets, works by Johann Sebastian Bach, and contemporary music in the Piazzolla style, featuring the U.S. premiere of Martín Palmeri’s A Jewish Cantata (2022). Our rehearsals take place on Monday evenings starting in September at Trinity Lime Rock Lakeville, Connecticut.  less
