The Sierra Boys choir is the new revival of the Sierra Boys choir in the 1970s, which was active in the Reno/Sparks/Carson City area and directed by Stan Burke. When Mr. Burke joined the Mario Singers and left to move to Long Beach, CA, the choir was disbanded and a hole was left in the local arts and culture scene. The revival of the choir is a project (and passion) of Nathan Lundholm.
Our goal is to provide musical and artistic opportunities to the boys while teaching them to be generous and thankful members of the local and global community. Our aim is to be fun and entertaining on many levels, from practices to shows, even to social events on the town.
We put all volunteers through a background check, and we ask some degree of participation from parents.
The Sierra Boys choir is a 501c3 non-profit corp. All donations and contributions are tax-deductible.

"This a capella setting of a scriptural text in Spanish has been performed widely across the US, South America and Europe, including a performance at St Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican and Carnegie Hall. The harmonic structure is lush and vibrant, tonally based but with colorful non-chord tones. It is contemplative in nature with a pace that makes the Spanish text very accessible for non Spanish-speaking choirs. It ends with a short soprano solo floating above the choir. Also available in an SSAA arrangement" from http://www.kinleylange.com/index.html

PG Carnivalesque" under the patronage of Prof. Krzysztof Wilde, rector of Gdańsk Tech, attracted several hundred people who listened to daring performances of popular pop music hits. During the performance we heard choral arrangements of hits such as: "Dancing Queen", "Memory", "California Dreamin'" and "Maria". This time it was not Mozart or Bach, but ABBA, Queen and songs from the musical West Side Story that graced the walls of the Gdansk University of Technology in carnivalesque musical artistic creations.
Jazz musicians performed along with the choir, and the musical effects were accompanied by a unique lighting arrangement, which required appropriate space and audience arrangement.
The more-than-hour-long performance by the Academic choir of the Gdańsk University of Technology, conducted by Prof. Mariusz Mróz and accompanied by musicians from the Music Academy in Bydgoszcz, ended with joint singing, encores and a standing ovation. less

Marble Sounds - Leave a Light On
Lyrics:
Sure I can leave a light on
Let it shine on
Leave it till dawn
Sure I can leave a light on
Leave a light on for you
It takes two to find a way out
There is no doubt
I will be around
If you have lost the right track
Then I'll lead you right back
Don't search to find
Don't smile just to be nice
Don't run just to get there on time
Be amazed
Simply blown away
Live on without
Getting off your cloud
Sure I can leave a light on
Leave a light on for you
Sure I can play a quiet song
I could just hum
Beat a soft drum
Sure I can play a quiet song
Play a quiet song for you
It takes you to make my heart sing
To let air in
And keep breathing
It takes two to keep the vibe true
I am waiting for you
It struck me again
We both look the same
But what you make
Appears in all shapes

Traditionally, there is a quartet concert in January, a spring concert right after May Day (Vappu) and an advent concert in December.
The TYY choir has participated in many venues outside of Turku. The choir represented Finland in the international choir competition in Coleraine, Ireland in 2006. The competition could not have gone any better as the choir won in the category of mixed choir and was given the award as best choir. In addition to this, Slavonic Tractor, a group of choir members, won in the female choir category and the Kanske quartet won in the Light E... less
