Born from an experimental session for BBC Radio 3’s Late Junction in 2009, YANTRA’s vocal focal point is the intersection of seemingly incompatible and incomparable singing traditions. Combining the purity of a cappella with modern multi-tracking recording techniques, their rich vocal fusion explores the spiritual and folkloric music from the traditional and ancient musical heritage of Bulgaria, India and England.  less

Excellent performances just don't happen and a lot of hard work and effort is put in at every rehearsal, however, the camaraderie, enjoyed by everyone, is also a very special part of being a Choir Member. In 2005 the local Council of the borough of North Down conferred the status of Borough Ambassador on Bangor Ladies Choir. This is the first conferment ever to an external Organisation outside of the Council Membership and the Choir were privileged and proud to accept this unique position. We are an auditioning, non-professional chamber choir, performing a diverse programme of repertoire at regular intervals throughout the year. We draw our membership from the hugely successful EC4 Music, a choir and orchestra that is widely regarded as one of the leading large amateur groups in London, and it is from this platform of success that CCoV takes its lead. EC4 Music recently performed at the Barbican for the fifth time, raising money for The Prince’s Trust and is also very excited to be making its Royal Festival Hall debut in October this year to mark the grand finale of the Lord Mayor's Appeal 2011. Lord Mayor, Michael Bear's appeal supports children’s charity Coram and RedR, a charity that trains and provides engineers and other relief workers to respond to worldwide emergencies.
