Initially formed in 1987 simply as a means for those interested to gather together to sing, more formal concerts were later organized and presented. In addition to two planned concerts a year (a Christmas concert in the Fall and a Spring concert), there are frequently requests from local organizations for appearances. For example, in the spring of 2011, the group performed at the Wright Brothers Monument for the Centennial of the Wright Brothers Glider Flight. The repertoire of the Outer Banks Chorus ranges from the Classical to Broadway, and spirituals of all kinds and in different languages. Recently the chorus has sung a number of premiere performances of pieces by contemporary composers. All are invited to hear the chorus sing exceptionally lovely and wonderful Choral music.  less

They met at Liverpool University and have been writing, recording and performing ever since. They originally performed covers of Simon-Garfunkel songs, but soon began producing their own original blend of folk/folk rock music combining unique melodies, captivating vocal and instrumental arrangements and powerful poignant lyrics that challenge people to listen to what they have to say. I'm glad, I am very grateful for you, Marean!  less

Individual song parts recorded by the choristers using their own equipment following lead videos made by our Director, Pierre. Pierre then put together the video using Final Cut Pro. A message from the Director: "Christmas 2020 is the first in our 43-year history where we haven’t been able to stage live concerts, but that doesn’t mean we can’t still sing. So, after planning, rehearsing and recording, we are proud to present All and Some, one selection from our Virtual Christmas Concert of 6 carols. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nstkQZ9-5Gs We hope you will enjoy our renditions of old favourites, some in new settings by our director, along with a few lesser known pieces from our carol archives. I cannot be more proud of my musical colleagues for forging through the complex logistics of putting these videos together. I thank them for their loyalty to our fans and their fellow choir members, and for their diligence ...    less
