Founded in 1951 by the late Richard S. Eaton, RES has played a leading role in Edmonton’s cultural community for more than six decades. In addition to presenting its own Concerts, the choir is a regular guest of the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra, and collaborates frequently with other Edmonton ensembles, including the Alberta Baroque Ensemble in this performance. It has also collaborated with other Canadian choirs in the past, including the Calgary Philharmonic Chorus, the Vancouver Bach Choir and the Winnipeg Philharmonic Choir. This past summer RES embarked on a two week tour of Germany, highlighted by performances at the St. Thomas Church in Leipzig, where Bach was Kapellmeister for much of his career. less

This smallest and most select of the Hofstra choirs comprises the best singers at the University, both within and outside the Department of Music, and focuses on the distinct art of unaccompanied, or a cappella, ensemble singing, presented in carefully chosen performance spaces that are uniquely attuned to celebrate the human voice's potential.

First, it acts as a laboratory for Hofstra’s future music educators, both undergraduate and graduate, providing outlets for the exploration of the art of ensemble preparation through the study of the highest-quality Choral literature. Second, it provides all qualified students with the experience of singing in a professional-level ensemble (as well as the associated "real-world" responsibilities of the ... less

He is so small the stars bow down the fierce winds ease their breath,
And careful shepherds look upon the one unsullied birth.
They kneel and stare while time seems gone and goodness rules the earth.
The blight on man is all undone, and there will be no more death,
For though this child will be nailed on a cross,
He'll be so since he is the jewel of untold worth.
For him all stars have shone,
have shone, have shone, shone...........
