We were founded in 1928 and perform two major Concerts a year in addition to our Annual appearance at THE Leith Hill Musical Festival in THE Spring, as well as regular Christmas charity Concerts and oTHEr activities.

Weekly singing groups for adults open to all regardless of musical background. Term time only (10 - 12 week term 3 times per year) with Summer break Annual family singing camp. kayaking, archery, acoustic evening. Advance bookings only.

THE silver fleet (de Zilvervloot) was an Annual convoy of ships in THE 16th and 17th centuries, in which valuables from THE Spanish colonies in America were shipped to Spain. THE Drake Choir is Drake University’s select touring ensemble, performing regionally on an Annual basis and internationally every four years, most recently in May 2012. It has appeared in major venues in Austria, Germany, Italy, THE Czech Republic, Wales...  moreTHE Drake Choir is Drake University’s select touring ensemble, performing regionally on an Annual basis and internationally every four years, most recently in May 2012. It has appeared in major venues in Austria, Germany, Italy, THE Czech Republic, Wales, and Ireland. THE ensemble regularly collaborates with THE Des Moines Symphony and sang THE Beethoven Ninth Symphony with that orchestra in September 2011. THE Drake Choir has performed in Carnegie Hall and has been featured on THE conference program of THE American Choral Directors Association North Central Division. THE ensemble consists of 64-70 singers who are First-year students through seniors and who represent every College of THE University. Auditions for returning students take place in April and for new students during THE weekend preceding THE start of THE fall semester. THE ensemble rehearses Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, 3:30-5:00 p.m. and is conducted by Dr. Aimee Beckmann-Collier, Director of Choral Studies and Professor of Condcuting.  less

Our aims are to achieve high standards of singing and performance, and to contribute to our local community. Our Annual programme typically includes 6-8 Concerts in THE Harpenden area and furTHEr afield, a caTHEdral tour, open singing days and THE occasional recording. We rehearse on Wednesday evenings at St George’s School, Harpenden. We are known for good music making, varied repertoire including regular commissions, excellent soloists, interesting Concert venues and loyal patronage of a range of local hostelries…. We come from a wide range of musical backgrounds and have a thriving interns scheme for talented singers from local schools.
