Our repertoire includes a wide spectrum of choral works, and commissioned works by distinguished Hong Kong composers, including Dr. Chan Hing Yan, Dr. Victor Chan, Dr. Daniel Law, Mr. Law Wing Fai, Dr. Phoebus Lee, Mr. Michael Mak and Dr. Richard Tsang. the Chorus regularly holds annual large-scale concerts with its official orchestral partner, the Learners Orchestra, in addition to its other yearly choral concerts of a smaller scale. Members saw the need for a name which reflected their distinctive sound and musical objectives. they chose Voyces – a uniting image, powerful in its simplicity, a word with a bit of a twist, reflecting the eclectic and often unusual repertoire of the Choir. In using the archaic spelling – ‘Voyces’ – the Choir acknowledges thousands of years of rich choral tradition whilst establishing itself in the 21st century choral landscape. the Choir is fast making a name for itself premiering works never before heard in Perth or in fact the world. Directed for more than ten years by Michael Bawtree, its repertoire spans the Renaissance to the present day and has included the Scottish premieres of works by James Whitbourn, Hans Gál, Jan Dismas Zelenka, Richard Bush and Judith Bingham. the Choir performs regularly in Glasgow and central Scotland, and has toured to France, Holland and Sweden, where it has formed links with other Choirs. Recent BBC radio engagements have included William Walton’s Henry V Suite with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, Sunday Worship live and Bryan Burnett’s ‘Get it On’ show live on BBC Radio Scotland. the Choir features regularly in Raymond Gubbay’s Christmas Festival in the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall.  less

In 2003, Matjaž Šček, the conductor of the group, was replaced by Andreja Martinjak, who performed regularly with the Choir and took part in national and international Choir competitions where the Choir as well as the conductor were winning numerous prizes and awards. the greatest achievements of the Choir include a gold plaque, awarded in the 20th Slovenian national Choir competition, Naša pesem (Our song) 2007 and the second place in the 9th international Choir competition in Maribor 2008, where the Choir also won a special prize for the best Slovenian Choir of the competition.
