The group named DEKOR Chamber Choir is composed of experienced choral singers from various parts of Slovenia, who in the past used to sing in renowned Slovene and some foreign vocal ensembles. Driven by the desire of thorough preparation of quality choral projects, the choir works under the leadership of Slovene and foreign guest conductors.
The choir prepared their inaugural concert, entitled In the Beginning, in cooperation with young Finnish conductor Dani Juris The topic of creation coincided not only with the central composition of the concert, Copland’s In the Beginning, but also with the choir’s first public appearance and presentation of the concept of their work. Among the carefully selected works by Slovene and other authors, three were performed in Slovenia for the first time: Aaron Copland’s In the Beginning, Cyrillus Kreek’s Onnis on inimene (Blessed be the Man) and Ole Gjeilo’s Unicornis captivatur (Captured Unicorn). Among the works by Slovene composers Vilko Ukmar, Radovan Gobec, Lojze Lebič and Anton Lajovic, the rarely performed cycle of six songs for a five-part choir by Lajovic was certainly the musical climax of the evening for all lovers of the Slovene lyrical music. In July last year, the singers perform at the Croatian historical festival Opatija - imperial city, which attracts many visitors.
In the current season, the choir is working under the leadership of the guest conductor Sebastjan Vrhovnik. Their first two concerts which took place in autumn 2015 in Ljubljana and Koper (Symfonic Voices Festival) will be followed by the spring 2016 premiere of the vocal-instrumental project entitled BACH's PÄRTiture. With this programme of contrasts, which brings together vivid baroque motets and the minimalistic sound of Arvo Pärt, the choir is going to perform in various places around Slovenia. less
