We are an adult all-volunteer Chorus with a membership that spans nationalities, generations and professions — united by a passion for music and singing. Some of our members have had a lifetime of music and choral experience; others are only just beginning to discover the joy of singing. Whichever stage our members are experiencing in their personal musical journeys, the IFC is filled with enriching opportunities to learn and grow both as musicians and as individuals. The IFC is committed to sharing our love for music and choral singing with the community through two formal concerts a year and additional performances at private and public events.  less

Founded in New York City in 2008 by Artistic Director Vince Peterson, the organization now encompasses: a roster of professional ensemble singers, a volunteer chorus of 40-50 adults and an annual week-long Summer Institute in Brooklyn for composers and conductors. The culture of the organization marries informality, loving support and joyful curiosity, with the expectation of solid and technical musicianship, constant learning and openness toward the unexpected.  less

Though founded and based in Whitby, our membership is made up of residents from all over Durham Region and the GTA. We truly represent and reflect the diversity of the Region in which we perform. The Choir currently numbers 70 to 80 Choir members ranging in age from 18 to 80.

They brought to our school the rich traditions of classical music that prevailed in Europe, at the time. By and by , they were ably assisted by highly interested and committed lay trainers cum teachers who went on to train prize winning Choirs that stood out among schools and also were in great demand for national events.
