Since our first concert in 1995, Orpheus has presented a multi-concert subscription series each year to great critical acclaim. Orpheus has performed throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth area at venues including the regional conference of the American Choral Directors Association, the Dallas Museum of Art, the Kimbell Museum of Art, UT-SouthWestern Medical Center, Children’s Medical Center-Dallas, and numerous public Schools. Collaborations over its 30-year history have included Ars Lyrica Houston, Gramophone Award-winning Baroque scholar John Butt, Texas Camerata, jazz pianist Eric Barnes, hand drummer and international percussionist Jamal Mohamed, tanpura player Vatsal Dave, and many other outstanding instrumentalists. We were founded by musician Shona Brown in 2009 with 3 choirs and now are 4 community choirs across Bearsden and Lanarkshire with around 180 members. SoundRoutes Singers have ...  moreWe were founded by musician Shona Brown in 2009 with 3 choirs and now are 4 community choirs across Bearsden and Lanarkshire with around 180 members. We rehearse weekly and sing a variety of pop, rock, folk, reggae and gospel. SoundRoutes Singers have performed to sellout audiences at venues across the local region and in 2012 recorded our debut EP Changing Key. The groundbreaking project was in conjunction with Addiewell Prison Choir, also run by Shona Brown, Britain's first prison choir and over £3000 was raised for Shelter Scotland.  less

We perform to a High standard and have a friendly but hardworking atmosphere. There is no audition but some previous experiece, past or present, and the ability to read music can be very helpful. We rehearse on Tuesday evenings, 7:45pm to 9:45pm, at St Andrew's Community Church, Hall Street, Stockport, SK1 4DU. All performances are from memory, delivering carefully-structured, semi-choreographed programmes. Repertoire encompasses jazz, show tunes and folk songs as well as opera and the classical repertoire. Members include fellows and alumnae of Lucy Cavendish College, Cambridge, as well as Singers drawn from the wider community.
