Bringing together very nearly 40 mixed voice singers all sharing the same passion, they hail from countries from around the world and representative of 4 continents. The repertoire consists principally of contemporary music with anglo-saxon origins and from the very best of musical theatre as seen in London's West End or on Broadway in New York.
The International Singers are beginning to wow the people of Lille and the surrounding areas of Northern France with concerts in public venues as well as at private functions organised by civic bodies as well as associations etc.
Musical Objectives
The International Singers is a choir structured around anglo-saxon values and traditions. Our rehearsals are rigorous and professional whilst at the same time maintaining an air of fun and friendliness.
We rehearse for a half day approximately every 3 weeks and we give 3 or 4 concerts per year in the Lille and Nord-pas-de Calais area but are just as keen to go further a field to sing. We are currently building links with other choirs and musical groups in the region so as to make ourselves known and to organise joint events.
Members of the International Singers are selected not only for their musical ability but also for their desire to be an integral part of a team that sets out to establish excellence and to sing in English. As we are now beginning to become involved more and more of events, the singers must also take a personal objective to make themselves available. Neither rehearsals nor concerts are optional.
But the most important aspect of our philosophy is to demonstrate through our singing that professionalism - whether it be in working together and well as in the quality of our music - is not only the domain of professional singers. less
