Made of young singers between the ages of 17 and 26 from different nationalities, the World Youth Choir is a remarkable educational and social experience through different vocal traditions at the highest artistic level. The World Youth Choir is a really original social and artistic project. Artistically speaking, it is a unique experience for young singers to develop their Musical and vocal talents by interacting with internationally recognized conductors and challenging repertoires in a professional level. Socially speaking, the World Youth Choir contributes to the raising of new generations of “Citizens of the World”. We rehearse fortnightly on Tuesday evenings at Holy Angels Church, Hale Barns, Cheshire WA15 0HF. We have enjoyed performing under conductors Christopher Foy, Imelda Leah, Jon Henderson and Kate Shipway who took over as Musical Director in June 2013.

The present church Choir, one of the finest Choirs of it’s type in the UK, is an excellent mixed-voice Choir with about 30 members who are currently brought up to Music by Stephen Dagg, Director of Music (also Director of the Centre for Young Musicians, a...  moreThe present church Choir, one of the finest Choirs of it’s type in the UK, is an excellent mixed-voice Choir with about 30 members who are currently brought up to Music by Stephen Dagg, Director of Music (also Director of the Centre for Young Musicians, a division of the Guildhall School, and the London Schools Symphony Orchestra). The Choir’s repertoire of sacred Music ranges from the 16th to the 21st centuries, including a recently commissioned and premièred work by Roxanna Panufnik. The Choir sings to a cathedral standard every week at the Sung Eucharist on Sunday and Choral evensong every fourth Sunday. It also sings at special services during the year and goes on tour each summer. Recent tours have been to Bordeaux (2014). Dordodgne/Aquitaine (2013), and Rome (2011, 2012).  less
