About Me
I sing 'lead', which is about equivalent to mezzo soprano I think, in Thameside Harmony, a ladies' a capella four part harmony chorus. With its origins in barbershop singing four part harmony is as interesting as it is fun and rewarding. It is said that the 'lead', by definition the one most often singing the tune of the song, is the easy part but it isn't as easy as it sounds. However, I like being a 'lead' and my confidence as a singer has definitely improved since singing in this small chorus. We perform 'sing outs' at local venues and in mid 2017 the chorus celebrated its 30th anniversary. It is really enjoyable to sing with such a nice bunch of ladies, all with a common purpose - to have fun and to entertain.

Thameside Harmony has been in existence for over 30 years. A ladies' a capella four part harmony group we have our roots in barbershop but sing all sorts of music from old standards and barbershop classics to mega pop hits by groups like Abba and Queen. A ladies' a capella four part harmony group we have our roots in barbershop but sing all sorts of music from old standards and barbershop classics to mega pop hits by groups like Abba and Queen. We perform sing outs for local groups in our area of Hampton in South West London, and take part in local fairs and festivals. Our weekly rehearsals on Wednesdays are a fun evening of singing, chatting and having fun together. We are always open to having new members. Experience is not required, nor is the ability to read music as we have 'teach tracks' with the songs in your part on (tenor, lead, baritone or bass) and access to these are given alongside sheet music.
From time to time we run singing courses or open evenings for which there are no auditions. On a course we usually all learn a new song together and sometimes are able not only to benefit from the direction of our musical director but also guest expert coaches from our parent organisation, the La... less
