About Me
Tatjana Merkl was born on 8th March 1969 in Pula, Croatia. She showed her interest and special love for music very early.
After finishing primary school she entered Grammar School and also Music High school Ivan Matetić Ronjgov in Pula where she started the theoretical course. The same year as The Grammar school she also graduated The Music school.
Although after finishing High school she has taken another path after a short period of time she enrolled the Music Educational Department (Music Pedagogy) at the Faculty of Philosophy in University of “Juraj Dobrila” Pula. She graduated in music pedagogy, 2006.
She takes part in seminars and lectures of conducting in the class of prof. Saša Britvić and prof. Slavko Magdić .
Tatiana writes pieces for various instruments, chamber ensembles and choirs, and many of her works for choirs, published by various music publications.
Alongside the study of Music she takes part actively in different sectors of music: it was conducting the mixed chorus “Matko Brajša Rašan” 17 years ,she is conducting mixed chorus “Cantus PoPuli”, mixed vocal group “Nešpula”, male vocal group “Brnistra” from Pula and mixed chorus “Rubino” from Rovinj, she sings in very popular and known female group “Teranke” from Pula, she plays in the renown accordion orchestra “Stanko Mihovilić” who has received the highest awards and prizes at numerous accordion competitions worldwide.
She started pedagogical work at OKUD ISTRA in 1998 where she teaches piano and Music theory nowadays.
From 2007 she runs and leads the musical courses at OKUD ISTRA (Cultural and Arts organization in Pula).
Recently, Tatjana is president of the association for the preservation of musical works and promotion of Istrian composers.
