  • About Me We are seeking a new deputy conductor and deputy accompanist please email the choir for further details.

Born and Bred in Wales, Welcomed Everywhere
The choir was founded in 1975 in Flintshire on the Dee estuary. The boys are dedicated to their singing and passing on that enjoyment to it’s audiences. Flint Male Voice Choir is a registered charity No. 510346.

    A Unique Sound
What you would expect to hear from a Welsh choir, yet made for today. The choir sings a wide variety of music stretching from the 16th century to the 21st, old faithfuls, traditional Welsh hymns and folk songs, plus modern pop and quality contemporary compositions in many languages. Listen to a sample from the hugely successful “Songs Across the Dee” featured on this site.

    Your Kind of Choir
The choir goes where it is invited, singing for pleasure and to give pleasure. We have covered the length and breadth of Britain and Ireland. In Germany, Austria, Prague, Malta and France. Wherever these men go, new ties are bound and new friendships formed.

    Universally Recognised
Flint choir has always been competitive, it’s the only way to find out where you stand in the hierarchy. Since the first success at Butlins Pwllheli the choir has gone on to earn the respect of the choral world.

    Successes
Twice winners of the National Eisteddfod, 1st in Cor Cymru, firsts at the North Wales Choral Festival and winners of both the Freckleton Festival and the Powys Eisteddfod and third place at the Llangollen International to name just a few. Flint Male Voice Choir are the only choir to have represented Wales four times at the Interceltic Festival in Brittany and repeated appearances at the Stade De France in Paris and Nantes andmany appearance at the Royal Albert Hall.

    From Mines to Rhymes
Our choir was born from miners and steel workers and has evolved and developed under the musical directorship of only three different conductors. Our numbers have grown steadily to around 70 members.

    The Operation
We are very proud of our strong administration and annually elect three officers plus a committee of ten. Each of these has one or more jobs to do. Our choir rules define what all the jobs do. We also look after our musical resources, especially new members, by appointing a leader in each of the four choir sections.

The choir voices are staged with the baritones on the conductor’s left. The top tenors come next followed by the second tenors . On the conductor’s right are the second bass section that sings the very lowest notes.
    Charity
It costs a lot to run the choir. We have to buy a hundred copies every time we want new music, & uniforms are a big cost. Since most of our concerts are for charities and are free, fund raising is very important.

    Touring
We are primarily a concert choir, but we also enter competitions to keep our standards up, and we like to tour every year. This may simply be a weekend visit to another choir in the UK or an extended trip out of the country.

    Rehearsals
In our area there are several choirs and many of them are male voice choirs. Male singers are hard to find. Our members live within a radius of about twelve miles although some stalwarts travel much further to our rehearsals on Wednesday and Sunday evenings. Concerts however can be up to a hundred miles away. When they are further we normally stay overnight.
