Our assignment this week was to research educational blog posts relevant to our studies. I am a middle school chorus teacher in New Jersey. I have come upon your blog post at an extremely busy time of year for music teachers. Today I had a rehearsal for my winter concert with my 8th grade chorus which is comprised of about 80 boys and girls. This group of students has been especially tough for me as they were my first group of students I have ever had and it took me a while to get on my feet with them. While we generally have a good rapport, chorus for some of the boys has become social hour which makes it extremely challenging to rehearse in a large group setting. As a newer teacher, reflection has been my greatest tool in making these daunting rehearsals less challenging and with better outcomes.
