  • About Me Alexandrian Choirs are the choirs of Alexandria Municipality a town in Central Macedonia, very close to Thessaloniki.

    All choristers are just amateurs who love singing and good company and under the leading of our conductor, Eleni Theodoridou, and art director, Gregoris Savvopoulos we dare to test our limits and compete world wide.

    Melissanthi, the youth choir, has been in several international competitions and so have Alexandrian Voices (adult mixed choir) who have managed to be in the top 1000 world ranking for 2011 and 2012.

    The Youth Choir Melissanthi was founded as the Children’s Choir of Alexandria Municipality in 1987 aiming to the creation of a youth musical cradle in the town and so far has become a major attraction for children and young people of the city. Goal of ...  moreThe Youth Choir Melissanthi was founded as the Children’s Choir of Alexandria Municipality in 1987 aiming to the creation of a youth musical cradle in the town and so far has become a major attraction for children and young people of the city. Goal of the choir is equally the choral and music development of its members and the contribution to the cultural development of Alexandria and the surrounding area. Although it started as a small ensemble singing monophonic or at best diphone melodies without instrumental accompaniment, today has more than 80 choristers, mostly girls, 10-25 years old, and interprets as a triphonic choir almost all kinds of music, with an emphasis on the music of the nations and Greek composers. It was founded in 1998 in response to the success of the Choral Meeting of Alexandria Municipality and mainly because of the Alexandrians who love the choral music and the e...  moreAlexandrian Voices is the mixed, polyphonic choir of Alexandrian Municipality. It was founded in 1998 in response to the success of the Choral Meeting of Alexandria Municipality and mainly because of the Alexandrians who love the choral music and the encouragement of the Board Members of the Choir at the time. Like Melissanthi, Alexandrian Voices is, in the wider area of Alexandria, the music institution that target to the development of choral music, of course through the good company and the love for music itself. From the beginning it counts approximately 50 choristers, all amateurs (meaning that none has studied music) who love and sing almost all kinds of music. Since their beginning, Alexandrian Voices had the opportunity to participate and be distinguished in numerous events, competitions or not, musical or of special interest. Based on the International Choir Classification, Alexandrian Voices are ranked into the 1000 best choirs in the world for both 2011 and 2012. Please read more: less
