The 20-member Vocal Art Ensemble presents Eric Whitacre's Cloudburst as the finale to their "Cloudburst--Sounds of Nature" concert in May 2011, joined by members of the JUUliebells ensemble.

We are a Choir of very friendly people, with great musical experience, a great desire to make good music, with a very wide repertoire and many concerts offered. Come meet us!!

A "circle dance", this performance from December, 2010 is The Vocal Art Ensemble's interpretation of what it might have looked like when it was performed by the pilgrims who had come to visit the black virgin statue at the monestary.

Joined by dancers/instructors from Fiesta DanceN' Fitness studio in Davis, CA, this piece served the cornerstone for the thematic programming. Director Tracia Barbieri. Our aim was to capture a serious English Boys Choir poise while making the most of the poems playful spookiness, so we elicited help from the men of the chorus to try and 'frighten' the women singing.

The piece starts a "Solstice" theme which was complemented by dance that signified the year being swallowed into darkness, emerging into new light with a coming Spring.  

The women of The Vocal Art Ensemble perform Ro Agura's "Hotaru Koi" (Ho, Firefly) as part of their May 2011 concert "Cloudburst--Sounds of Nature". To set the mood, the men behind the women are providing 'firefly' effects using laser keychains.
