The river Shannon is named for the Goddess Sionna, whose myth tells how she sought out the hazelnuts of wisdom, believed to contain éigse, the spirit of inspiration and creativity. "The Tyger" is dedicated to my daughter, Salima Rain, who asked me if I might try setting this remarkable William Blake poem to music, a daunting thought, to say the least.
But I took on the challenge and here is the result.
