The Vancouver choir has become known for technical virtuosity, fine blend and exceptionally high performance standards encompassing 500 years of choral repertoire. VCS has been awarded the Canada Council’s top prize in choral singing, the Healey Willan Grand Prize, more than any other choir in the country.

Described as ‘a fine body of singers’ by John Packwood in the Bristol Evening Post, they have delighted audiences with their fresh, inspiring interpretations of choral repertory from many centuries.
Members of the choir come from many parts of the UK for intensive weekends of music-making, culminating in concerts acclaimed for their invigorating choral sound, clarity of tone and texture, and innovative programming.
In June 2010 Harmonia Sacra were invited to perform a programme of music by early seventeenth-century English Recusant musicians (including William Byrd, Richard Dering and Peter Philips) for a Swansea University History conference at Oystermouth. The concert featured a unique and rare exhibition of seventeenth-century books and music... less

The sky is dark, the earth is white,
oh Bells ring out with joy
Jesus is born, the Virgin quiet
shelters her baby boy.

Bells ring out with joy!
No wraps No festooned curtains
spread to shield the child from frost
nothing but flimsy spider webs
trail from the beams aloft.
He shivers in that cold stable
this Jesus child so dear,
and so to warm him in the cradle,
the ass and ox draw near.
The snow hangs down in lacy fringe.
But far above the heavens swell
reveal the angel choir that sings to men

The success of this project led to a charity performance of Messiah co-directed by Patrick and Peter Holman at the Swinburne Hall, Colchester Institute, which was part broadcast by Classic FM. Since then the choir has presented three or four concerts each season in Colchester (usually at St. Botolph's Church), often featuring Baroque music. Many of the original members still sing with the choir, which is intended for experienced choristers (members sing with other choirs and some have solo careers) who can sight read well and respond to direction, thus enabling concerts to be performed with only two or three rehearsals. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Colchester-Bach-Choir/330623297057?ref=hl less

The vocal section of the Goldberg Ensemble, consisting of about 22 singers coming from various established choirs in Malta, brings together choral enthusiasts to perform primarily Baroque choral music in a more exhaustive manner. The musicians too are distinguished performers in their own right who tour Europe extensively, and who are versatile on both modern and Baroque instruments. The ensemble's director, Michael Laus, is the inspiration and motivator of the Goldberg Ensemble, whose harpsichord playing and conducting have been highly acclaimed by the international press. less
