Background The Simon Car...  moreMission The Simon Carrington Chamber Singers – a world-class choral music ensemble led by renowned artistic director Simon Carrington – engages and enriches audiences through concerts, recordings and educational programs. Background The Simon Carrington Chamber Singers (SCCS), led by artistic director Simon Carrington, is a world class choral music ensemble based in Kansas City. The group was founded in 2008 by three of Carrington’s former students who shared the desire to form an elite professional vocal chamber ensemble under his direction. SCCS, an ensemble of 24 Singers, performs a diverse and challenging repertoire that spans the ages. The group showcases a unique sound that reflects Carrington’s musical sensibilities: a clear, bright tone with a measured use of vibrato which allows a clear and expressive delivery of the text. We began with the singular purpose of ministry and spreading the gospel. ​Since incorporation, NGGC now operates under two mandate objectives: to develop the professional and musical skills of Young adults 20-30 years of age; and to bring gospel music as a respected genre of music, along with its more evolved counterparts (Jazz and Classical music), in Canada. Gospel Music has served vitally in the development of all members who have joined NGGC. Our unique incorporation, interpretation, and delivery of this embodied form of art, has garnered multiple forms of support — like spectators; organizations; donors; and sponsors alike — granting us the ability to develop both the musical and professional skills of our members in tandem.  less

The ensemble performs with Jon Washburn and the Vancouver Chamber Choir on three or four concert programmes each season and also presents one or two independent concerts with its own conductor. Pacifica Singers provides an ideal performance venue for experienced and motivated choral Singers whose goal is to make music at a very high level. By providing direct exposure to the world of professional music making, it is an experience of great value for Singers intending to make a career in music. Current members live throughout the lower mainland, with many serving as conductors, music educators, and/or professional Singers in their communities.  less
