Kornelsen, the Denver Pro Chorale is comprised of thirty-six musicians based in the Denver Metropolitan area. The Denver Pro Chorale specializes in singing diverse a cappella Choral repertoire including contemporary works from around the world. The Denver Pro Chorale recently concluded its second season with its first independent concert to a sold out audience at Denver’s Church of the Ascension. Earlier this year, the Denver Pro Chorale was invited to sing at the Colorado Music Educator’s Association convention in Colorado Springs. Moving into its third season, the Denver Pro Chorale is looking forward to collaborating with the Metropolitan State University and St. Martin’s Chamber Choir in joint concerts in addition to a Christmas concert and a concert at Denver’s Church of the Ascension in the spring of 2015. The choir is known for its adventurous programming, seeking out music written specifically for women and frequently commissioning new works. Its appearances include performances at the distinguished National Convention of the American Choral Directors Association (February 2003 and March 1997), including memorable New York performances at Carnegie Hall, Riverside Church, and Avery Fisher Hall. Elektra was honoured to represent Canada at the Fourth World Symposium on Choral Music in Sydney, Australia (August 1996). Our society is a real opportunity for people to get the most from singing. We have a great musical director, immensely skilled and fun to sing for. Every rehearsal gives us something to discover about the music of all kinds of different styles, how to sin...  moreOur society is a real opportunity for people to get the most from singing. We have a great musical director, immensely skilled and fun to sing for. Every rehearsal gives us something to discover about the music of all kinds of different styles, how to sing, communication with the audience , keeping time, tuning, rhythm etc. The choir works with musically trained people and singers entirely new to singing; some read music and some not. We give great concerts, sometimes of classics such as Elijah (Nov 2012), madrigals, anthems, and lighter music such as the delightful Noah and his Floating Zoo. Like all choirs however we need more singers to keep the choir progressing. We are therefore expanding the ways we reach out to people who might like to give singing a try, or who would like to return to singing after a break, perhaps to have a family or because of a house move.
