All interested Singers are invited to schedule an audition for Wednesday January 28th, February 4th or February 11th at 6:30pm. The ensemble, directed by Jason Asbury, is a community chorus based in Brooklyn Heights. The 75-member ensemble meets in Brooklyn and is made up of neighbors who range in skill from semi-professional to newbies! Concerts include well known and little-known masterpieces of choral literature from Early Music to Contemporary composers and commissions by Brooklyn musicians. While the majority of the Singers are undergraduate music majors, membership is open to all students at the university through an audition process. The group has achieved an impressive reputation of excellence, having been chosen each of the last twenty years to perform at conventions or festivals around the country: the Pennsylvania Music Educators State Conference; the Eastern Division Music Educators National Conference; the Music Educators National Convention; the American Choral Directors Association Pennsylvania State Conference, and the ACDA Eastern Division Convention. The choir is renowned on the international stage as well, representing the US at competitions and festivals around the world. The repertoire consists principally of contemporary music with anglo-saxon origins and from the very best of musical theatre as seen in London's West End or on Broadway in New York.
