The choir was founded by composer, Franco Prinsloo, with a focus on quality recordings and performances of his own Music, as well as a selection of Music by other Pretoria based composers. He also conducts the choir. They have recorded two collections of Music by composers: Franco Prinsloo, Zander Fick and Pieter Bezuidenhout, “South African Choral Music Collection Vol. 1 and Vol. 2”. The latest album released in 2019 is "Speak to me", available on streaming platforms world wide.
In 2019 a new recording will be released: “Naledi - An African Journey” featuring Music of the choral Musical with the same name. "Naledi: An African Journey" was commissioned by Lhente-Mari Pitout for the University of Pretoria Youth choir to celebrate and explore the unique and diverse choral Music heritage of South Africa. The Department has over two hundred participating students of which approximately half are Music majors. We have eighteen faculty members and are fully accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music.
