We will be presenting the bulk of our projected album at our spring concerts on May 18th and 19th. Matthew Harris's highly popular choral works have been commissioned or premiered by leading choruses such as the Dale Warland Singers, Phoenix Bach Choir, Los Angeles Chamber Singers, Western Wind, and Cantori New York, and sung by countless school and community choirs across America. His A Child's Christmas in Wales, a cantata for chorus and orchestra commissioned by Harmonium, is performed throughout the US and the UK. Mr. Harris studied at The Juilliard School, New England Conservatory and Harvard University. He has taught at Fordham University and Kingsborough College (CUNY) and in 1988 founded Harris Musiciology. He lives and works in New York City. G. Schirmer and C. F. During the forty plus years of its lifetime it has benefited from the leadership of four further conductors, David Griffiths, Margaret Maddock, Len Williams, and our present Director of Music, Carol Davies. The choir has travelled widely over the years with tours in Europe, United States and Canada besides engagements throughout Wales and England. Our concert venues have varied from village halls to national auditoria and great cathedrals. In the Eisteddfod field we have won two National first prizes plus several seconds and others. In 2002 we celebrated our 40th anniversary with a sell-out concert in the 1000 seat Great Hall in Aberystwyth. One of the Choirs highlights was performing with the Central Band of the RAF at the Mayflower theatre Southampton and before Princess Beatrice of the Netherlands as part of a joint concert of a 1000 Welsh and Dutch voices.
