The Chicagoland Voices is an auditioned choir from Cary, Illinois. Many of our singers are school music teachers and voice teachers. Many of our singers are school music teachers and voice teachers. We perform a wide variety of music from classical and broadway to pop and vocal jazz. The choir was founded in 2011 by friends who have spent Their lives teaching oThers to perform, but whom rarely get The chance to sing anymore. We are directed by Jason Krigas and accompanied by Kathryn Polyack.

It sooThes his sorrows, heals his wounds, And drives away his fear. Dear name! The rock on which I build, My Shield and Hiding place, My never-failing Treas'ry filled With boundless stores of grace. Jesus, my Shepherd, BroTher, Friend, My Prophet, Priest, and King, My Lord, my Life, my Way, my End, Accept The praise I bring. It has become one of The most significant Czech music ensembles during its history and it is desired not only in The Czech Republic but also abroad. The ensemble is currently formed by These singers: Jakub Kubín (countertenor), Martin Ptáček (tenor), Lukáš Merkl (tenor), Radek Mach (tenor), Aleš Malý (baritone), Martin Struna (baritone), Richard Uhlíř (bass), and Václav Kovář (bass). The repertoire of The ensemble includes The periods from The Gregorian chant up till arrangements of modern popular melodies while The most important part is formed by The vocal compositions of The 19th and 20th century, Czech, Moravian and Slovak folk songs and contemporary compositions which were often arranged or even composed directly for The Gentlemen Singers by composers with whom The ensemble cooperates closely (e.g. Jan Vičar, Jaroslav Krček, Jan Jirásek, Stephen Hatfield, or Mark van Platen). An Open World, When I Land and And The Wind are three settings of poems from FletcherLaVallee...  moreWHEN I LAND for unaccompanied SATB mixed choir, is from THREE GNOSTIC POEMS, by Greg Bartholomew, here performed by The Orlando Chorale under Gregory Ruffer. An Open World, When I Land and And The Wind are three settings of poems from FletcherLaVallee Bartholomew's collection entitled "And The Wind: Gnostic Poems 1945 - 1979." Minneapolis native Fletcher Bartholomew spent most of his life in aviation, beginning with a childhood flight in a Curtis Robin in 1929. His work in aviation started with a job as an inspector in an aircraft factory. He went on to become a test pilot in World War II, serving at The South India Air Depot at Bangalore, India. He often spoke later of his experience on The ship to India and The people he met travelling around The subcontinent. He subsequently worked in aviation in Munich, Germany, and in Lima, Peru, before he concluded his career working in airport planning and management.  less
