There are three main concerts during The season, typically consisting of Holiday, Classical and Pops music, each performed twice. Are you a singer dedicated to The art of choral music? These dynamic and talented singer...  moreThe SYC was formed in 1998, as children's choir singers grew and voices changed! This four part chorus (Soprano, Alto, Tenor, Bass) is devoted to music of all styles, including Classical, Broadway and Contemporary tunes. These dynamic and talented singers range in age from 14-25, and include young women in gr.11 and higher, and young men with changed voices. The SYC annually participates in The Family Christmas Concert, and choreographed year end show. They also stage an Orchestra concert each spring, which has presented pieces such as Haydn's Lord Nelson Mass, Vivaldi's Gloria, and Requiems by Mozart, Faure, Rutter, and Daley, to name a few. This year, The SYC looks forward to singing Carl Orff's Carmina Burana. The Youth Chorus joined The senior and chamber choirs in Their 2009 tour to The UK. They were ecstatic to receive 8th place standing in The Mixed Voices category at a festival that boasts participants from over 50 different countries. Luis Oquendo y su esposa Pilar León de Oquendo, de querer llevar música Coral de alto nivel a todos los espacios, entornos y estratos posibles, comenzando con un grupo de familiares y amigos músicos haciendo un número total de 8 integrantes, de allí su nombre: Octavia Cantorum o lo que es igual al español: Ocho Cantando. Con el tiempo, ésta agrupación tuvo la necesidad de ir creciendo porque las exigencias del repertorio así lo requería, actualmente cuenta con más integrantes de diferentes profesiones la cual comparten con la pasión por la música. It was founded in 1998 in response to The success of The Choral Meeting of Alexandria Municipality and mainly because of The Alexandrians who love The choral music and The encouragement of The Board Members of The Choir at The time. Like Melissanthi, Alexandrian Voices is, in The wider area of Alexandria, The music institution that target to The development of choral music, of course through The good company and The love for music itself. From The beginning it counts approximately 50 choristers, all amateurs (meaning that none has studied music) who love and sing almost all kinds of music. Since Their beginning, Alexandrian Voices had The opportunity to participate and be distinguished in numerous events, competitions or not, musical or of special interest. The word 'vacilando' is Spanish, and refers to taking enjoyment out of The journey raTher than focusing on The ...  moreVacilando is The newest choir in The Kokopelli Choir Association, created in response to many requests for an adult choir in our organization! The word 'vacilando' is Spanish, and refers to taking enjoyment out of The journey raTher than focusing on The destination. As such, The choir will take a more casual approach to music-making, with fewer performances throughout The season than Òran, our young adult choir. The group will still place an emphasis on all The things that make Kokopelli's music-making unique, however: community, multiculturalism, choral excellence, and multifaceted performances.  less
